Nokia plans private mobile networks for vertical industries

Nokia has announced plans to use licensed, unlicensed and shared spectrum to create private end-to-end networks for vertical industries. The company will apply Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) capabilities to provide an overlay approach to a multi-operator, multi-access RAN network, aggregating the enterprise Wi-Fi or other private wireless networks with an operator's wireless network to boost performance. The company added that it has signed an agreement with Boingo Wireless to trial the technology, with Boingo describing new Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) advancements like Nokia's
