Nokia plant employees stage hunger strike

Employees at Nokia's handset plant in Chennai will go on a one-day hunger strike on 31 March. The employees are concerned about the transfer of the plant to Microsoft under the two companies' USD 7.2 billion deal. The employees call on the state and central governments to ensure there will be no job losses, PTI writes. The plant was earlier operating at three shifts, producing 13 million handsets per month, but since January this has been cut to two shifts and production has dropped to 4 million handsets.
