Nokia says India tax case to not affect Microsoft deal close

Monday 17 February 2014 | 09:01 CET | News
Nokia said it's recent setback in a tax case in India would not affect the planned closing of the sale of of its mobile phone business to Nokia. The transaction is still expected to close in the first quarter, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, irrespective of the proceedings in the Indian tax case, the company said in a statement. Earlier reports suggested that Nokia would not be able to close the deal, due to the outstanding tax claims against its India operations.
