Nokia Siemens Networks defends African job cut plans

Nokia Siemens Networks has defended its staff reduction plans in the African continent, according to CAJ News. Recently, the company announced it was planning to 160 employees at its South African operations, which is its headquarters in Africa. CAJ News said officials defended the exercise, saying it is part of plans to enable it break even internationally. South African MD Rufus Andrew said this will help Nokia Siemens Networks to reduce its annualised operating expenses and production overheads by EUR 1 billion on an international basis by the end of 2013, compared with the end of 2011.
