Nokia Siemens outsources OSS R&D to Tieto
Nokia Siemens Networks announced an agreement to outsource part of the maintenance, technical support and R&D for its mobile network Operations Support System (OSS) and Subscriber Data Management (SDM) activities in Finland to Tieto. Around 240 employees who work primarily in R&D in Tampere and Espoo will transfer to Tieto. NSN said the outsourcing is part of its refocusing initiative announced last Novemvber, which also seeks to lower costs at the company. Tieto said the new staff will strengthen its R&D competence, with the NSN employees available to work on other projects as well. Pending regulatory approval, the outsourcing should be completed by early April.

Nokia Siemens in talks to sell BSS business - report

Nokia Siemens Networks is in advanced talks to sell its business support systems business, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. The BSS division has attracted interest from potential buyers including Ericsson, Amdocs and private-equity firms, the report said. The business may fetch as much as EUR 300 million. NSN has already announced the sale of several business units in the past year, as it narrows its focus to mobile broadband equipment.

Nokia Siemens Networks reported second-quarter sales down 12 percent from a year earlier to EUR 3.343 billion. Finnish construction group Lemminkainen outsourced its ICT infrastructure and support to Finnish company Elisa.
