Nokia to launch Windows 8 phone soon - CEO

Wednesday 15 August 2012 | 14:26 CET | News
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop confirmed the company will launch soon a new smartphone running Windows Phone 8. Elop made the comment in Oslo, where he was meeting with Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas, saying Windows 8 smartphones would be released "relatively near term", Reuters reports. The news sent Nokia's share price higher amid expectations it will launch the new device at the Nokia World event in early September. This would put the company just ahead of Apple's expected launch of the new iPhone later that month.
