Nokia to provide Nigeria's Tizeti with LTE Fixed Wireless Access system

Nokia has announced that it will supply Nigerian mobile operator Tizeti with its Fastmile and LTE technology to provide superior internet services to over 1 million subscribers in Port Harcourt, Edo and Ogun. Tizeti will deploy Nokia's AirScale Base Station TDD-LTE and Fastmile Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) gateways to supply premium internet and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to residences as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). 

The equipment will enable Tizeti to deliver a more robust, high-speed internet service to subscribers and provide the flexibility to evolve to 5G Fixed Wireless Access when needed. Nokia's FWA system enables Tizeti to fast-track broadband access and provide a quality service to its subscribers.

Nokia’s AirScale Base Stations ensure high-quality connectivity and coverage and enables Tizeti develop the network in line with customer demand. Nokia's Fastmile gateways connect wirelessly to the existing network to create a fast broadband connection and enhanced Wi-Fi at home. The Nokia Network Services Platform will help Tizeti to simplify operations and quickly respond to changing market demands.

Nokia delivers software to update legacy 4G radio units to 5G

These features provide immediate support for approximately 1 million radios and should reach 3.1 million by the end of the year and over 5 million in 2021. Tizeti launches 4G network in Port Harcourt

Nigerian ISP Tizeti has launched its first 4G network, reports TechCrunch. The Y Combinator-backed start-up, which uses solar-powered towers to deliver net connectivity, has built its premier LTE-capable tower in Port Harcourt, where Tizeti will offer its first 4G and ISP services. The company operates primarily in Lagos and expanded this year to Ghana.
