Nokia told to solve India tax dispute

The Indian Supreme Court today asked Nokia India to bring out a concrete proposal to settle its tax dispute with the income tax department, The Economic Times reported. The court noted that the assets transfer to Microsoft would be taking place in two or three weeks. The court also said that its proposal to give a minimum deposit of INR 22.5 billion towards its tax liabilities was final. Nokia's counsel said over 35,000 jobs were created by the company in India and that the court would take the interests of the employees into consideration while passing the order.
