Nokia unveils expanded fronthaul range for centralised RANs

Nokia has announced an expanded range of mobile fronthaul solutions, including the 1830 VWM Photonic Managed Unit (PMU), an optical multiplexing unit for combining multiple wavelengths over a single fibre with management capabilities for Service Level Agreement (SLA) and demarcation. The new platforms allow operators to accelerate the deployment of centralised RAN architectures to satisfy growing consumer demand for streaming video and downloading HD films on mobile devices, as well as traffic demand from IoT-connected objects.
