Nokia upgrades Airtel Kenya network, paving way for 5G

Monday 30 November 2020 | 10:47 CET | News
Nokia has announced that it has been selected by Airtel Kenya for a three-year deal to modernise Nairobi with 4G and 5G-ready hardware from its AirScale portfolio. Deployment began in June of hundreds of sites and including upgrades to existing 2G, 3G and 4G radio access networks (RANs) in urban and semi-urban places, highways, tourist spots and central business districts in Nairobi and the rest of Kenya. This will offer Airtel Kenya the option to transition smoothly to 5G when necessary.
