Norway govt should demand chairwoman for Telenor board - MP

Tuesday 3 November 2015 | 12:43 CET | News
Minister for Trade and Industry Monica Maeland should demand that Telenor appoints a chairwoman for its board of directors, said head of the Norwegian parliament's trade committee, Geir Pollestad, according to newspaper Dagsavisen on its website. The Centre Party member of parliament pointed out that Maeland had stated last week that she had no confidence in Telenor board chairman Svein Aaser, in light of the Vimpelcom affair. Pollestad said the state is Telenor's majority shareholder so if it calls for a woman to head its board, it will get one.
