Norwegian govt merges e-govt portal with ICT agency under new digitisation directorate

Friday 15 March 2019 | 12:12 CET | News

Norwegian Digitisation Minister Nikolai Astrup has announced the merger of the Directorate for Administration and ICT (DIFI) with public electronic government portal Altinn under a single digitisation directorate from 01 January 2020. Astrup said this will bring together Difi's competencies in Leikanger and Oslo with those of Altin in Bronnoysund and Oslo, although there will be no office moves.

The Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation said Altinn will be split off from Bronnoysund Register Centre as part of the reorganisation, and merged with Difi, apart from Difi's departments for management, investigation and analysis, which will be brought under the umbrella of the Directorate for Financial Management (DFO). The Bronnoysund Register Centre covers various public registers, such as for corporate registrations, bankruptcies, marriages and hunting licences, and so on.

The overhaul follows the migration of communications regulator Nkom from the Ministry of Transport and Communication to the Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation in January.
