Norwegian operators stop charging each other to port numbers

Wednesday 30 September 2015 | 21:44 CET | News
Norwegian communications regulator Nkom said operators will no longer pay each other a number portability fee from 01 October. Until now, operators have been charging NOK 85 to migrate a mobile number and NOK 110 to move a fixed line number to a rival network. MNP was introduced in 2001, and landline number porting in 1999. It has been the recipient network that had to pay. Nkom said the process is now largely automated and so the cost of switching a number is very low.
