Notebook PC shipments pick up after 7 quarters of decline

Friday 22 August 2014 | 03:02 CET | News
Following seven consecutive quarters of shipment declines, the global notebook PC market returned to growth in the second quarter of 2014. Second-quarter notebook PC shipments hit 45.1 million units, which represents an increase of 1 percent year-on-year, according to NPD DisplaySearch. The report shows North America and Western Europe have improved to positive double-digit growth, due to a combination of commercial PC replacement cycles and Windows XP migration in 2014. The notebook PC market was also positively impacted by the launch of Chromebooks and other low-priced notebook PCs.
