Novator mulling acquisition of Telefonica Colombia or Avantel - report

UK-based investment fund Novator, owner of Chilean operator WOM, is interested in acquiring the Colombian subsidiary of Spain's Telefonica or local mobile operator Avantel, according to unnamed industry sources cited by Spanish business daily El Economista. Last month Novator secured 20MHz of spectrum in the 700MHz band and 30MHz in the 2.5GHz band in Colombia's LTE auction, the same as Claro, with Tigo-Une (Millicom) winning 40MHz in the 700MHz band and Telefonica choosing not to take part.
