NPO, RTL see growth in OTT video users during coronavirus lockdown

The coronavirus crisis has led to a 25 percent increase in users of the OTT video service NPO Start. Viewing time has increased even more, up by 35 percent, according to the public broadcaster. The lockdown has stopped the production of new TV and films, so the NPO has started buying in specific content, such as foreign detective series. Meanwhile, its commercial rival RTL has taken a financial hit from the crisis, but is also growing its OTT service Videoland, the company said at the recent Cross Media Cafe event.
