Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has coordinated with the Telecommunications Police Department to crack down in Greater Cairo and Alexandria on banned telecom device outlets and stores. The aim is to confiscate unlicensed and banned wireless telecom devices used to boost mobile networks, as they do not conform to technical specifications. NTRA said it received complaints from customers in these regions about interference to mobile communications by improperly installed boosters that do not comply with standards.
