
Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo posted a net profit of JPY 136.4 billion in the first fiscal quarter ended 30 June, down from JPY 158 billion in the year-ago quarter. Operating revenues for fiscal Q1 amounted to JPY 1.175 trillion, down 3.4 percent year-on-year. NTT Docomo’s EBITDA reached JPY 386.7 billion in the quarter, down from JPY 420.4 billion year-on-year.
The operator also said that it expanded LTE coverage across the country, ending June with a total of 66,300 Xi LTE base stations across Japan. The operator expects to reach a total of 95,300 stations by end March 2015. NTT Docomo sold 5.16 million handsets during the quarter, down from 5.39 million handsets in the year-ago period, while the number of mobile subscribers by end-June totaled 63.56 million, up compared to 61.62 million by end-June 2013. LTE subscribers amounted to 24.04 million by the end of the quarter, up from 14.20 million at end-June 2013.
