NY orders investigation into report Facebook is receiving private user data from apps

Monday 25 February 2019 | 09:06 CET | News
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered an investigation into reports Facebook is secretly accessing personal information. The report came from the Wall Street Journal, which found that a wide range of apps send the personal data of its users to Facebook, apparently without user consent, even when the user has no connection to Facebook and even when they are not logged in. Cuomo said the actions represent an "invasion of privacy and breach of customer trust" and clearly violate Facebook's own business terms.
