NYC sues Verizon for failure to roll out fibre

The city of New York has filed a lawsuit against Verizon for failing to deliver its promise to bring fibre broadband to he whole city. Mayor Bill de Blasio said that Verizon promised to deliver its Fios fibre service to every household in the city by 2014. "It's 2017 and we're done waiting," he said in a statement. "No corporation - no matter how large or powerful - can break a promise to New Yorkers and get away with it." The fibre pledge was part of a franchise agreement signed by Verizon in 2008 with the city. Last September, the city notified Verizon the company was in default of the
