
Mobile operator O2 Czech Republic plans to launch commercial 5G services in Prague and Kolin on 01 July, a first in the country. The services will be available for all subscribers of the operator.
5G NR technology on NSA architecture will be used. The 5G network will be used for data services, with voice connection carried out on the LTE network. The operator will use active antennas with Massive MIMO 32T32R and 256QAM. A 40 MHz block of the 3.7 GHz band, as well as technologies from Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei, will be used.
Around 50 senders will operate in several neighbourhoods in Prague; about 15 percent of the population of the capital city will be covered. One sender will operate in Kolin.
5G services will be available on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S20+ 5G smartphones. Sales of the Samsung Galaxy A51 5G will start in July. The operator expects speeds of up to 600 Mbps will be available on the network.
O2 Cezch Republic is deploying the 5G network in cooperation with infrastructure operator CETIN.
