O2 Germany focuses on smartphones, no consolidation - CEO

Telefonica O2 Germany has no plans to make a play for KPN's German subsidiary E-Plus, preferring instead to stick to its strategy of growing its customer base on the back of the smartphone phenomenon, according to Telefonica O2 Europe's CEO, Matthew Key, talking to journalists at a media dinner in London cited by Dow Jones Newswires. Key also said that between 25 percent and 30 percent of O2 Germany's customers have both fixed and mobile broadband services. Telefonica O2 Germany's CEO Rene Schuster, who was also present at the dinner, said that 90 percent of the mobile phones sold in Germany
