O2 Germany to introduce new broadband, unlimited mobile tariff for EUR 60 per month

Telefonica Germany said it will offer the O2 Unlimited tariff from 01 December for EUR 60 per month. The tariffs bundles a subscription to a landline connection (VDSL or cable) with up to 100 Mbps broadband and a mobile connection with unlimited calls, texts and data volume at up 100 Mbps including 5G.

An additional O2 One Unlimited Mobile SIM card costs EUR 20 per month. It provides unlimited calls and SMS, and unlimited data volume with up to 100 Mbps speeds including 5G. The O2 One Unlimited Mobile Basic, which is designed specifically for people under the age of 18, costs EUR 5 per month. It also includes unlimited calls, texts and data, with up to 1 Mbps speeds.

Multicards, for example for the use of tablets or smart watches, can be booked for EUR 4.99 per month. Customers who want faster internet at home can increase speeds from up to 100 Mbps to up to 250 Mbps for an additional EUR 10 monthly. The TV offering O2 TV L can also be booked as an option for EUR 9.99 per month with the Unlimited tariff.

Customers who sign up for a contract by 28 February will pay a one-off connection fee of EUR 39.99 for a 24-month contract, or EUR 99.99 for a Flex tariff without a minimum contract term.

Deutsche Telekom is adding further data volume to MagentaMobil prepaid tariffs. For the MagentaMobil prepaid tariffs M to XL the data volume will during the first six billing periods. Customers will during this time also receive 4 GB with the M version, 6 GB with the L version, and 10 GB with the XL version. Prices will remain unchanged.

Vodafone Germany expands fibre network in Mainz

Vodafone Germany said it has started to build out its fibre network in Mainz to improve bandwidth capacity for 45,000 households. The company is installing several dozen fibre lines across the Mainz city area, and around 100 new nodes are also being built in the Gonsenheim, Neustadt and Zentrum areas in Mainz. In addition, it is connecting 22 mobile masts to fibre to supply 5G in the future. Vodafone plans to complete the network expansion in Mainz in September this year.

Telefonica Germany said it has created a new TV ad with Serviceplan Bubble to boost its O2 Internet mobile brand, for home fixed-line network take-ups. Under the motto "Internet for your home. For every home," Telefonica said it wants to send a message that it can provide internet for customer needs at home.

Telefonica Germany said customer data use reached 2 billion GB from January to December, an annual first. Telefonica continued to expand the 5G network with around 3,900 5G antennas in operation using the 3.6 GHz frequency band, plus 2,000 5G antennas transmitting over the 700 MHz and 1800 MHz bands.

Deutsche Telekom wins Computer Bild 5G speed test

Deutsche Telekom has won the Computer Bild test with the highest 5G speed at an average of 157 Mbps, followed by O2 with 145 Mbps and Vodafone with 134 Mbps. The 5G speed was high especially in large cities, where the mobile network has been upgraded.

Deutsche Telekom said it is offering the Speedport Smart 4 router in combination with an outdoor 5G antenna free of charge to help customers boost their home internet speeds. Telekom is offering a test of the new hybrid system to 800 interested customers until next August.

Telefonica Germany said it has introduced the O2 Free Starter Flex for children and parents. The tariff provides security and cost control with the option to block from the start chargeable data packages and game flat rates. Existing customers can subscribe to the O2 Free Starter Flex for EUR 4.99 per month. The price applies to O2 customers who already have an O2 combi tariff with benefits. The activation price is EUR  9.99.

German mobile service provider 1&1 has launched a promotion offering a Samsung Galaxy Watch3 smartwatch in combination with a 1&1 All-Net Flat tariff plan with the Samsung Galaxy S21 series smartphone. The package includes a free eSim Multi-Card for the Galaxy Watch3. The monthly fee for the first six months of a 2-year contract ranges from EUR 9.99 for 2GB of LTE included to EUR 29.99 for 40 GB. The fee increases by EUR 30 per month for the remaining 18 months of the contract.
