Oberthur Technologies (OT) announced a deal to help Telefonica Spain migrate to a new generation SIM Over-The-Air (OTA) platform. Under the terms of the partnership, Telefonica’s SIM OTA platform will be upgraded to benefit from the latest standards and functionalities, ensuring accurate network settings at any time while deploying and activating new services on SIM cards with a short time-to-market on a massive scale. OT said the new platform would help the operator reach a 100 percent success rate on OTA update operations and simplify campaign management while reducing maintenance costs.

Other advantages of the OTA technology include the ability to update roaming data in order to offer customers a reliable experience in their country or when travelling abroad. Telefonica will also be able to streamline operations via inventory management and customised profiles, said OT.
