OECD pushes back deadline for new digital tax rules to mid-2021 as talks falter

A new international agreement on taxing large internet companies has been delayed until mid-2021, the OECD announced. The Covid-19 pandemic and political differences have slowed the negotiations on new international tax rules, which were previously expected to conclude by the end of 2020. The OECD warned that this could lead to more unilateral taxes on digital companies, triggering a trade war and slower economic growth.
