Oettinger backs abolition of roaming fees for 2017

European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society Gunther Oettinger expects roaming fees for calls and mobile internet within the EU to be waived from the second quarter of 2017, according to Rheinische Post. He elaborated that the EU Commission, the governments of the 28 member states and the European Parliament, will agree on this soon. The EU Parliament initially wanted to enforce the abolition for 2016, but met resistance from a number of EU countries.
