Ofcom looks to revise penalty guidelines

UK regulator Ofcom has published a consultation on proposals to amend guidelines for determining the amount of penalties it imposes. It wants to create a stronger deterrent effect to help reduce the continuing levels of complaints received and contraventions of regulatory requirements. The closing date for responses is 24 September, with Ofcom aiming to issue a statement and publish the revised guidelines in the autumn.
