Ofcom makes preparations for 5G spectrum auction - report

UK communications regulator Ofcom is making preparations for the launch of next-generation 5G mobile services, reports the Daily Telegraph. Unnamed sources told the paper that Ofcom has started work on the next sale of spectrum and will accelerate the process once the sale of 4G spectrum has been completed. The 5G auction is expected to be opposed by digital broadcasters, who are likely to be removed from their current 700 MHz spectrum allocation so it can be used for high-speed mobile devices.
