Ofcom proposes easier access to BT poles, ducts

Tuesday 6 December 2016 | 10:32 CET | News
UK regulator Ofcom has published its proposals for making it easier for alternative operators to access BT's telegraph poles and ducts in order to deploy their own fibre networks. Ofcom said stimulating network-based competition with easier access to basic infrastructure is the best way to boost the UK's fibre broadband, which is currently available to just 2 percent of connected premises. The proposals are open to public consultation until 31 January 2017.
