Ofcom wants BT to offer discount plans for vulnerable groups

BT is set to face pressure from Ofcom to offer discount tariffs to pensioners and the poorest families, reports The Telegraph. BT wants Ofcom's approval to switch off its expensive telecoms network by 2025. However, Ofcom is worried that vulnerable consumers could be left behind in the shift towards broadband networks, and is expected to ask BT to develop new discounted basic services and assistance so that those consumers who do not use the internet can still make voice calls.
