Oman to launch research network OMREN in Q1

Oman's 14 educational institutions will be connected via the Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN) in the first quarter of 2015. This is the first phase of setting up a high-quality, high-speed network to enable communications among researchers and ease their access to global research networks. Further, an additional 25 educational institutions are expected to be connected by the second quarter of 2015, reports the Times of Oman. Besides improving communications among researchers, OMREN's objectives include contributing to the training of specialised Omani cadres in network management,
