Omani regulator reviews WhatsApp's voice call service plan

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) says it will announce its decision regarding WhatsApp's plans to introduce free voice calls once more details are available, Times of Oman reported. A senior government official said the government will look at whether WhatsApp will have an Omani partner and whether it will follow all the TRA guidelines. According to the Telecommunication Regulatory Policy, the provision of any telecoms services should be licensed by the authority.
