Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has broken the USD 1 billion sales barrier and made a profit, reports The Telegraph.
CEO Peter Lau told the UK newspaper that the company's sales doubled to more than USD 1.4 billion in 2017, and that it had generated "healthy profits". Lau said that OnePlus had managed to generate healthy margins in the highly competitive smartphone market by focusing on the high end of the market.
OnePlus has not revealed its revenues since 2014, but Lau said he wanted to be more transparent about sales to show customers that it is healthy. The company is in talks with carriers in the US and Europe about selling its handsets.
OnePlus started selling phones through O2 in the UK in 2016, but still sells most of its handsets online. The UK is its largest market in Europe. Lau said it would continue launching two new handsets a year, with a new device (OnePlus 6) launching later in 2018.
