OnePlus looks to sell 1 mln smartphones by year-end

Chinese handset maker OnePlus has sold over a half million smartphones to date, and hopes to reach 1 million units by the end of the year, co-founder and director Carl Pei told Forbes at Dublin's Web Summit. The first handset, the OnePlus One, launched in April, and has been sold on an invitation basis since. The company has achieved its goals with an advertising budget of USD 300. Pei said the money was spent experimenting on different types of Facebook ads. The director said it has now found a critical mass of users and that they were helping to spread the word organically.
