OneWeb to help AT&T deliver high-speed broadband in remote areas

Satellite communications company OneWeb has signed an agreement with AT&T to deliver high-speed broadband connectivity via satellite in remote areas, extending AT&T's fibre network in hard-to-serve areas.

The new satellite connectivity will complement AT&T's existing access technologies. It will be used to enhance connectivity when connecting to enterprise, SME and government customers, and hard-to-reach cell towers. AT&T business and government customers ion Alaska and northern US states will be covered later in 2021.

Meanwhile, OneWeb has announced the appointment of Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Chris Moore to its Government and Regulatory Affairs Teams as as Vice President, International Government and Trade Engagement. Moore was the MoD's Director of Operations for Defence's core IT services from 2017 to 2021. Before that, he was head of MoD IT and Cyber Operations. He is a specialist in deployable IT infrastructure, military operations and cyber security; with extensive experience of satellite services in defence operations.
