ONF completes first wireless transport SDN proof of concept

The Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), has announced the completion of the industry's first multi-vendor wireless transport SDN proof of concept (PoC). The PoC, held in Madrid on 07-09 October, was designed to encourage the development, testing, and implementation of open SDN for wireless transport and to demonstrate multi-layer optimisation on an open SDN infrastructure, said the ONF. Participating ONF member companies Ceragon Networks, Coriant, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC and SM Optics
