Open Fiber launches EUR 15 mln Sassari FTTH rollout

The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of Italian utility giant Enel and state lender CDP has announced an agreement with Sassari city council to build a wholesale fibre-optic network in the Sardinian locality in a total investment of around EUR 15 million. The aim is to roll out 26,000km of cable over 18 months to bring FTTH services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to 44,000 homes, offices, schools and public buildings.
