Open Fiber to invest EUR 12 mln in Varese FTTH rollout

The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of Italian utility giant Enel and state lender CDP has announced a deal with Varese city council to build a wholesale fibre-optic network in the Lombardy locality in a total investment of around EUR 12 million. The company will begin rolling out cable at the end of November, with plans to bring FTTH services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to 31,000 local homes and offices over the next 18 months.
