Oppo taps KDDI, SoftBank to bring phones to Japan

China's Oppo will start selling 5G smartphones in Japan through mobile carriers KDDI and SoftBank, writes Nikkei Asian Review. Oppo said that KDDI and SoftBank use all of their sales channels in Japan to sell at least two of its 5G models. Oppo's push for a bigger share of the Japanese market comes as Huawei suffered setbacks in the global market due to Washington's clampdown on the company, Huawei has lost access to Google Mobile Services, which includes. Oppo's deal with the two Japanese operators may also pave ways for its engagement later with Japan's biggest carrier, Docomo.
