Opposition criticises ruling party's stance in fibre row

Spain's main centre-left opposition party, PSOE, has strongly criticised the decision by the ruling People's Party (PP) to side with Telefonica in its conflict with Spain's communications regulator CNMC over the proposal to open up the former incumbent's fibre network to rival operators. A day after the PP tabled a motion with the Spanish Senate requesting that the CNMC rectify its decision, PSOE's economic spokesman Juan Moscoso del Prado called a press conference to urge the government to respect the independence of the regulator. Moscoso del Prado described the pressure exerted on the CNMC
