Optus downplays HFC to get clearance of AUD 800 mln NBN deal

Australian carrier Optus is downplaying its hybrid-fibre coaxial (HFC) network to prevent the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) from blocking its AUD 800 million deal with the National Broadband Network Company (NBN Co), ZDNet Australia reports. Optus' agreement with NBN Co involves decommissioning the Optus cable network and transferring its customers to the NBN fibre grid.
