
Optus launches 4G services, plans

Australian telecommunications provider Optus has launched LTE services in Sydney, Perth, and Newcastle and is rolling out LTE in Melbourne on 15 September. The operator is offering two 4G plans: the AUD 60 per month Optus Plan with AUD 650 included value and 1.5 GB of data, and the AUD 80 per month Optus plan with AUD 850 included value and 2 GB of data. At launch, Optus offers the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G and on the AUD 60 plan customers pay AUD 7 per month and on the AUD 80 plan the device is free. The plans also come with unlimited mobile access to popular social networks, unlimited national SMS messages, and unlimited on-net calls.
