Optus tests TD-LTE Advanced carrier aggregation

Australian telecommunications provider Optus, with network equipment vendor Huawei, has begun testing TD-LTE Advanced carrier aggregation. During the tests at the St Marys test facility, Optus achieved a throughput of 520 Mbps, by combining four 20 MHz channels of the 2,300 MHz spectrum band into 80 MHz. In Melbourne, Optus combined two 20 MHz channels on the same spectrum band, achieving peak speeds of 160 Mbps on a single device. The same trial also demonstrated a number of additional LTE technologies including: 4x4 MIMO (multi-input-multi-output), beamforming, and CS fallback. Huawei
