Orange Austria sale forces TKK to delay spectrum auction
The Austrian telecommunications control commission TKK has decided to delay the auction of 800, 900 and 1,800 MHz frequencies as a result of the proposed takeover of Orange Austria by 3 Austria. It had originally planned to public auction documents in April and hold the auction in September. The takeover of Orange Austria involves three of the four active mobile operators in Austria, and as a result any allocation of frequencies before the deal is completed could have a negative impact on competition.

Austrian government appoints TKK members

The Austrian government has appointed new members for the control commissions for Telecom and Post, reports Austrian press agency APA. The members are appointed for a period of five years and have an important say in issues like mobile and fixed termination fees if the operators and regulator RTR cannot come to an agreement. The telecom control commission now consists of Elfriede Solé (OGH), Erhard Fuerst (formerly of the Industry Association) and Professor Guenter Haring (University of Vienna).

Orange Austria, G Data offer mobile malware protection app

Orange Austria partners with anti-virus specialist G data to offer a mobile app with protection against viruses, trojan horses and other malware, called G Data power by Orange. The app is free and customers can order a licence to receive updates during 12 months for EUR 6.99 instead of EUR 9.99. The app is only available for Android phones.
