Orange announced that its acquisition of 65 percent of the capital of Groupama Banque has received formal approval by banking regulators both in France and Europe. This paves the way for the rebranding of Groupama Banque as Orange Bank in January 2017. The announcement also announced the appointment of Andre Coisne as Orange Bank CEO. The bank has now become part of the Orange group’s Customer Experience and Mobile Banking function, led by Marc Rennard.

The marketing of the new banking offer will start during the first half of 2017. Customers will be able to subscribe through the bank’s mobile app and website, or in one of Orange’s 140 accredited stores. The offer will also be distributed across Groupama Group’s networks from the second half of 2017. Orange aims to offer full consumer mobile banking services from launch, including current accounts, savings, insurance and credit products. The new venture aims to attract more than 2 million customers in France.
