Orange France confirms LTE for 2013 - CEO

Tuesday 3 January 2012 | 10:56 CET | News
Orange France plans to launch 4G services commercially in 2013 and will be the first LTE operator in the country, France Telecom-Orange CEO Stephane Richard confirmed with Le Figaro. He told the newspaper in December 2010 that service would start at the beginning of 2013. Tests will begin at several sites this year, including one in the Paris area. The theoretical top speed of LTE is 60 Mbps, ten times faster than 3G. Telecom regulator Arcep awarded LTE spectrum to Orange France, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and new entrant Free Mobile. The latter is expected to launch mobile services by 12 January.
