Orange France tests switch from copper to fibre in Levis-Saint-Nom

The small town of Levis-Saint-Nom, with around 1,600 residents, will be one of the first communities in France where Orange will test the planned switch-off of its copper network and the transition to fibre, reports La Gazette des Communes. In a few weeks, all communication over copper will be gradually shut down ahead a full migration to fibre by the end of March. The town, in the Yvelines department outside Paris, was informed of the project in July 2020 and since then preparations have been carried out to make the copper network redundant.
