Orange leverages Android to double data revenues by 2012

Orange aims to double its non-SMS mobile data revenue by 2012 and the emergence of affordable Android handsets is a key part of its strategy, the operator's vice president of devices, Patrick Remy, told Total Telecom. Remy said that "at the beginning of 2010, 15 percent of our portfolio was smartphones. This will rise to 30 percent by the end of the year, and will be 50 percent by 2013". Orange has already introduced HTC, LG and Motorola Android handsets. France, Spain and several Central European countries are likely to be the first to see Orange-branded Boston and Amsterdam phones.
