Orange Money has nearly 3 mln users in Africa

Orange Money has attracted nearly 3 million users in Africa, the operator's executive director for Africa, the Middle East and Asia, Marc Rennard, told Les Echos. Despite talk of the growth in value-added services at the Africacom exhibition in Cape Town, 95 percent of Orange's revenues in Africa come from voice and SMS. Facebook, chat services, etc will come, but not anytime soon for most users. Mobile payment, on the other hand, is particularly promising with tens of millions of people expected to use the service. Only 3 to 7 percent of most countries' population have bank accounts. Yet
