Orange Money leads West African m-banking market

Orange Money is the most popular m-banking application in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, writes Agence Ecofin, citing data from the Central Bank of West African States. Orange Money is the only m-banking service offered in four of the region's eight countries, namely Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Niger and Senegal. It has a 35 percent market share in the region, followed by Moov with 21 percent and MTN with 17 percent. According to the central bank, there were 32 e-banking services in the region in 2014, compared to 11 in 2010. Partnerships between banks and telecom operators dominate
